ऋषभचरित्रवर्णनम् (Ṛṣabha-caritra-varṇanam) — “Account of Ṛṣabha’s Sacred Narrative”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: Śiva’s purposeful manifestation within a parivarta to support Veda-arrangement and yogic transmission
It highlights Shiva’s compassionate governance (anugraha): the Lord willingly manifests in a particular name and form to uphold dharma and to support realized teachers, showing that divine grace actively safeguards the transmission of liberating knowledge.
By declaring a named manifestation, the verse emphasizes Saguna Shiva—approachable through name, form, and devotion—while implying that such forms are intentional expressions of the one Supreme Pati who guides seekers through embodied means like scripture and guru.
The takeaway is guru-sevā and śāstra-śravaṇa supported by Shiva-bhakti: study sacred teaching with reverence, and meditate on Shiva as the inner guide (through mantra-japa such as “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) who empowers true yogic understanding.
