Account of the Pippalāda Avatāra
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: liberating
It expresses śaraṇāgati (surrender) and bhakti: the devotee seeks Shiva’s gracious command and vows steady dhyāna on Rudra, affirming Pati as the supreme Lord who guides the soul toward liberation.
The verse emphasizes saguna-upāsanā—meditation on Rudra’s personal form. In Shiva Purana practice, the same devotion is stabilized through Linga worship, where the Linga serves as the sacred focus for contemplating Rudra-Shiva.
A clear takeaway is Rudra-dhyāna: mentally fixing the mind on Rudra’s form with loving surrender; it can be paired with japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Linga-pūjā with bhasma and Rudrāksha as supportive disciplines.
