Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s ritual-yogic injunctions as taught in the Kailasa Samhita)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that Shaiva worship must be grounded in both outer purity (cleanliness, proper observance) and inner purification (prāṇāyāma), so the devotee becomes fit to approach Pati (Shiva) with a steady mind and disciplined life.
Before approaching Saguna Shiva in Linga-pūjā, the practitioner stabilizes posture and breath; this aligns body-mind as a sacred vessel, ensuring the offering is not merely external but supported by yogic composure and dharmic conduct.
A steady seated posture and the threefold prāṇāyāma (pūraka–kumbhaka–recaka), followed by observing duties like atithi-sevā (hospitality), indicating that meditation and right conduct together prepare one for Shiva worship.
