कुम्भकर्णोपदेशः
Kumbhakarna’s Counsel and War-Boast to Ravana
हरींश्चापिहनियिष्यामिसंयुगेसमवास्थिवान् ।असाधारणमिच्छामिनदातुंमहद्यशः ।।6.63.51।।
harīṃś cāpi haniṣyāmi saṃyuge samavāsthivān |
asādhāraṇam icchāmi na dātuṃ mahad yaśaḥ ||
Firme no campo de batalha, matarei até as hostes dos Vānara. Não desejo deixar-te sem uma glória extraordinária e grandiosa.
"Confident of prosperity, he who defers action earlier, he does not know what is right and wrong later on."
It warns that seeking fame (yaśas) detached from righteousness becomes morally hollow; Dharma measures glory by justice, not by destruction.
The speaker promises steadfast fighting and frames his violence as a means to secure renown for his ruler.
Steadfastness and commitment, though ethically compromised by the goal of winning fame through unjust war.
