Hanuman’s Circuit of Ravana’s Palace and the Crisis of Deliberation
रक्षिणश्चात्र विहिता नूनं रक्षन्ति पादपान्।भगवानपि सर्वात्मा नातिक्षोभं प्रवाति वै।।।।संक्षिप्तोऽयं मयाऽत्मा च रामार्थे रावणस्य च।
rakṣiṇaś cātra vihitā nūnaṃ rakṣanti pādapān |
bhagavān api sarvātmā nātikṣobhaṃ pravāti vai |
saṃkṣipto ’yaṃ mayā ’tmā ca rāmārthe rāvaṇasya ca ||
Certamente há guardas aqui colocados, protegendo as árvores. Até o Vento divino, o Ser de tudo, não sopra com violência. Pelo propósito de Rāma—e também para evitar Rāvaṇa—tornei pequeno o meu próprio corpo.
"The guards posted there are surely protecting the grove. The divinity pervading all over me (the wind) must also have been controlled as it is also not blowing violently. I have turned my body small for Rama's cause and also to save myself from Ravana.
Dharma is served through restraint: power is ethically used by limiting oneself to what the mission requires, avoiding needless confrontation while pursuing truth (Sītā’s discovery).
Near Aśoka-vāṭikā, Hanuman notes tight security and chooses stealth—contracting his form—to proceed safely.
Self-mastery (indriya-nigraha) and mission-focus: he controls his abilities for a righteous end.
