ऋक्षाश्चावहिताश्शूरा गोलाङ्गूलाश्च राघव।कान्तारवनदुर्गाणामभिज्ञा घोरदर्शनाः।।4.38.28।।देवगन्धर्वपुत्राश्च वानराः कामरूपिणः।स्वैस्स्वै: परिवृतास्सैन्यैर्वर्तन्ते पथि राघव।।4.38.29।।
ṛkṣāś cāvahitāḥ śūrā golāṅgūlāś ca rāghava | kāntāravanadurgāṇām abhijñā ghoradarśanāḥ || devagandharvaputrāś ca vānarāḥ kāmarūpiṇaḥ | svaiḥ svaiḥ parivṛtāḥ sainyair vartante pathi rāghava ||
Ó Rāghava, chegaram ursos valentes e também golāṅgūlas, de aspecto terrível e conhecedores das selvas densas e dos redutos da floresta. E pela estrada avançam vânaras, tidos como filhos de devas e gandharvas, capazes de assumir formas à vontade, cada qual cercado por suas próprias tropas.
