तारोपदेशः — Tara’s Counsel to Lakshmana
Restraint, Time, and Mobilization
उपकारं कृतं वीरो नाप्ययं विस्मृतः कपिः।रामेण वीर सुग्रीवो यदन्यैर्दुष्करं रणे।।।।
upakāraṃ kṛtaṃ vīro nāpy ayaṃ vismṛtaḥ kapiḥ | rāmeṇa vīra sugrīvo yad anyair duṣkaraṃ raṇe ||
Ó herói, este guerreiro macaco Sugrīva não esqueceu o auxílio que Rāma lhe prestou—um feito em batalha difícil para outros realizarem.
'O hero! this warrior Sugriva has not forgotten the help rendered by Rama in combat which was difficult (to win).
Gratitude (kṛtajñatā) is dharmic: remembering received help sustains righteous alliances and prevents betrayal.
Tārā reassures Lakṣmaṇa that Sugrīva remains mindful of Rāma’s decisive aid in war and is not acting from forgetfulness or treachery.
Sugrīva’s gratitude and loyalty to Rāma, highlighted as a stabilizing moral trait.
