Tendo ali chegado, Maheśvara, juntamente com a Deusa, empreendeu austeridades num pico nascido do Himavat, no flanco setentrional da montanha.
"Mahesvara along with goddess Uma, went north of the Himavat mountain and performed penance on a peak.
Tapas is presented as a dharmic discipline: restraint and spiritual effort are shown as the means to restore balance after intense events.
Śiva (Maheśvara) and Umā withdraw to the Himavat region and commence austerities, shifting the narrative from conflict/curse to ascetic resolution.
Self-control and renunciation (tapas/saṃyama) are emphasized as stabilizing virtues.
