Rama and Lakshmana at Sabari’s Hermitage
पाद्यमाचमनीयं च सर्वं प्रादाद्यथाविधि।तामुवाच ततो रामश्श्रमणीं संशितव्रताम्।।।।
pādyam ācamanīyaṃ ca sarvaṃ prādād yathāvidhi | tām uvāca tato rāmaḥ śramaṇīṃ saṃśitavratām ||
Segundo o rito devido, ela ofereceu a água para lavar os pés e a água para sorver, prestando todas as honras; então Rāma falou àquela asceta, firme em seus votos.
By virtue of her self-meditation, Sabari went to that sacred world where the holy sages lived because of their good deeds.ইত্যার্ষ শ্রীমদ্রামাযণে বাল্মীকীয আদিকাব্যে অরণ্যকাণ্ডে চতুস্সপ্ততিতমস্সর্গঃ৷৷Thus ends the seventyfourth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Atithi-dharma (the duty of hospitality): offering the traditional courtesies to guests—especially to the righteous—without neglecting proper conduct.
Śabarī performs the customary reception rites and then Rāma begins speaking with her.
Śabarī’s disciplined observance of right practice and Rāma’s respectful engagement with a renunciant.
