Danu’s Curse Narrative and Rama’s Inquiry about Sita
स मया याचितः क्रुद्धश्शापस्योन्तो भवेदिति।।3.71.5।।अभिशापकृतस्येति तेनेदं भाषितं वचः।
sa mayā yācitaḥ kruddhaḥ śāpasyo’nto bhaved iti | abhiśāpa-kṛtasya iti tenedaṃ bhāṣitaṃ vacaḥ ||
Quando lhe roguei—embora estivesse irado—perguntando como poderia chegar o fim da maldição lançada sobre mim, então ele proferiu estas palavras.
When I sought to know how the curse angrily pronounced on me would come to an end, he said:
Repentance and seeking correction: when one errs, dharma includes approaching the harmed party with humility to learn the path of expiation or release.
Kabandha describes asking the enraged sage for the condition under which the curse would end, leading into the sage’s instruction.
Contrition: the willingness to request guidance for remedy after wrongdoing.
