Sita urges Lakshmana to seek Rama
The crisis of the ‘distressed voice’
Fie upon you. Like a woman of wicked nature you doubt me when I stood firm by my brother's words. You will go to ruin.
Fidelity to rightful command (guru-vākya) is presented as dharma; the verse also warns how suspicion and insulting speech fracture righteous relations.
Lakṣmaṇa, provoked, rebukes Sītā for doubting his intentions though he is acting under Rāma’s authority.
Loyalty and obedience—Lakṣmaṇa stresses that his actions are grounded in adherence to his elder brother’s word.
