Ó errante da noite, por quem—por que conselheiro mesquinho e de fala maldosa—foste assim instruído? Pois aquele que deseja que pereças por teu próprio ato não é teu amigo.
O Ravana! by which mean fellow is this advice given against your welfare? Who wants you to be destroyed by your own action.
Dharma requires choosing हित (benefit) over अहित (harm). An adviser who leads one into self-caused ruin violates the ethical role of counsel.
Mārīca criticizes the source of Rāvaṇa’s resolve, implying that the plan is so ruinous that only a malicious adviser would promote it.
Discernment in relationships: recognizing true friendship as that which prevents self-harm.
