Narrator (Purāṇic narrator describing the sages’ assembly; specific speaker not explicit in this verse)

Concept: Sacred speech becomes puṇya when it is Kṛṣṇa-āśrita; mutual sharing of Hari-kathā among the austere is itself a high sādhana.

Application: Replace idle talk with brief daily Kṛṣṇa-kathā: read a verse, share a story, discuss a teaching; build a small circle of satsang (weekly) to keep speech and mind anchored in Hari.

Primary Rasa: bhakti (shanta)

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

Śaunaka is a revered sage associated with hosting or guiding assemblies of ṛṣis; here he is described as providing seats for the ascetics, facilitating their sacred discussion.

By stating that the narratives are “kṛṣṇāśritāḥ” (centered on Kṛṣṇa), it frames holy discourse itself as devotion—Bhakti expressed through remembering and speaking divine stories.

It highlights the value of respectful hospitality, saintly association, and mutual sharing of sacred teachings—suggesting that communal remembrance of the divine is itself meritorious (puṇya).
