FAQs

The verse describes a divinely sanctioned station or role established by the command of Hara (Śiva) and Gaurī (Pārvatī), affirmed by the devas, meant to secure peace in the world through the removal of obstacles.

It presents obstacle-destruction (vighna-vināśana) as the practical means to loka-praśānti—worldly tranquillity—implying that harmony is maintained when impediments to dharma and well-being are removed.

It highlights that actions aimed at public welfare (loka-praśānti) are ideally grounded in rightful authority and broad assent (command plus consent), rather than personal impulse—linking power with responsibility and communal good.
