Yoga-Sleep, Cosmic Dissolution, and the Lotus of Creation

with Mārkaṇḍeya’s Vision

Unspecified (narrative/teaching voice within Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa context)

Concept: All moving and unmoving existence rests on the Supreme Person as the fundamental principle; time-cycles (yuga measures) are structured by His ordinance—cosmos is intelligible because it is grounded in Puruṣa.

Application: Hold a ‘Puruṣa-centered’ worldview: treat life’s cycles as opportunities for sādhana; use sacred time (daily, monthly, yearly) intentionally—especially fasting days and japa routines.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A cosmic diagram-like scene: the Supreme Person stands serene at the center while around Him orbit rings labeled with yuga divisions, like concentric mandalas of time. Below, tiny vignettes show moving beings (birds, humans) and unmoving beings (mountains, trees), all connected by luminous threads to the central Puruṣa.","primary_figures":["Supreme Person (Puruṣa/Nārāyaṇa)"],"setting":"Abstract cosmic mandala with concentric time-rings; lower band depicts earth-life in miniature; upper band shows stars and kalpa-wheels.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["lapis blue","antique gold","ivory","forest green","smoky purple"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central Puruṣa with gold-leaf halo, concentric yuga-mandalas rendered with embossed gold patterns, miniature creatures and mountains at the base, rich red-green borders, jewel-toned ornaments and traditional iconography.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: elegant mandala of time around a calm Nārāyaṇa, fine linework for concentric rings, cool blues and greens, delicate miniature life-forms below, soft atmospheric depth with distant hills and sky.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, central deity with stylized concentric time-wheels, patterned fills for rings, strong warm pigments, iconic frontal presence, temple-panel composition.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: circular yuga-mandala like a lotus rosette, central Nārāyaṇa, ornate floral borders, deep indigo with gold, small animal and plant motifs arranged rhythmically around the circumference."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Desh","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["steady tanpura drone","soft mridangam pulse (slow)","wind-like whoosh between lines","single bell strike at yuga mention"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: yatkiṃciccaramacaraṃ → yat + kiṃcit + caram + acaram; yadasti → yat + asti; cānyatsarvaṃ → ca + anyat + sarvam; tatpuruṣavaraḥ → tat-puruṣa-varaḥ; catvāryyāhuḥ → catvāri + āhuḥ.

P
Puruṣa (Supreme Person)

FAQs

It states that everything in existence—animate and inanimate—has the Supreme Person as its primary, foundational principle, implying ultimate dependence of creation on the Puruṣa.

The verse mentions a yuga and states it is said to be four thousand years (as presented in this line).

Both: it is theological in asserting the Puruṣa as the fundamental reality, and cosmological in giving a measure related to yuga time.
