Sūta (narrating the prescribed śrāddha-mantra within the Uttara-bhāga teaching)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It functions as a śrāddha-saṅkalpa/prārthanā: the performer dedicates the piṇḍa so that all ancestors—especially those in an unsettled preta condition—receive tṛpti (appeasement) and relief through the offering.
Bhakti here is expressed as reverent service (sevā) and gratitude toward the lineage; by performing dhārmic rites with faith and dedication, one aligns actions with sacred order and offers compassionate support to departed beings.
Kalpa (ritual procedure) is implied: the verse is a ritual formula used during piṇḍa-dāna/śrāddha to specify the intended recipients (pitṛs, including preta-state ancestors) and the desired result (tṛpti).
