The passage highlights dharma in social life: major transitions like marriage should be conducted vidhivat (according to proper rites), and generosity in gift-giving—when aligned with propriety—strengthens bonds, honors guests, and stabilizes alliances without disorder.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the marriage alliance between the Matsya royal house and the Pāṇḍavas is being carried out with due ceremony. Śrī Kṛṣṇa supports the occasion by presenting substantial wedding gifts—maidservants, jewels, and garments—after which the formal rites establishing the relationship proceed to completion.
