Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
तयोरासीत् सम्प्रहार: क्रुद्धयोर्नरसिंहयो: । अमर्षिणोस्तदान्योन्यं देवदानवयोरिव,वे दोनों नरश्रेष्ठ जब क्रोध और अमर्षमें भर गये, तब उनमें परस्पर देवताओं और दानवोंकी भाँति घमासान युद्ध छिड़ गया
tayor āsīt samprahāraḥ kruddhayor narasiṃhayoḥ | amarṣiṇos tadānyonyaṃ devadānavayor iva ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Quando aqueles dois heróis, leões entre os homens, inflamados de ira e feridos no orgulho, se fecharam um contra o outro, irrompeu entre eles um feroz choque corpo a corpo—como as tumultuosas batalhas dos deuses contra os asuras.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how krodha (anger) and amarṣa (resentful intolerance) can overwhelm even great persons, escalating disputes into destructive conflict; it implicitly values restraint and patience as safeguards of dharma.
Two eminent warriors, both enraged and unwilling to tolerate the other, engage in a fierce mutual clash, compared to the legendary cosmic battles between the Devas and the Dānavas.
