Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
जिधघांसन्तं नरव्याप्रमर्जुनं तिग्मतेजसम् | आचार्यमुख्य: समरे द्रोण: शस्त्रभूतां वर: । अर्जुनेन सहाक्रीडच्छरै: संनतपर्वभि:
jighāṃsantaṃ naravyāpram arjunaṃ tigmatejasam | ācāryamukhyaḥ samare droṇaḥ śastrabhūtāṃ varaḥ | arjunena sahākrīḍaccharaiḥ saṃnataparvabhiḥ ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Quando Arjuna—o primeiro entre os homens, ardendo em energia cortante—se consumia com a intenção de matar o adversário, Droṇa, o mestre preeminente e o melhor entre os portadores de armas, enfrentou-o no campo de batalha como se fosse um jogo. Com flechas de juntas curvadas (arqueadas e habilmente dirigidas), Droṇa golpeava e aparava, exibindo domínio sem malícia—como se a afeição contida de um mestre ainda transparecesse em meio à ética e à urgência da guerra.
