Uttara–Arjuna Saṃvāda and the Re-Arming of Gāṇḍīva

Virāṭa-parva, Adhyāya 40

सर्वायुधमहामात्र शत्रुसम्बाधकारकम्‌ | सुवर्णविकृतं दिव्यं श्लक्ष्णममायतमव्रणम्‌,“सम्पूर्ण आयुधोंमें यह सबसे बड़ा है और शत्रुओंको विशेष पीड़ा देनेवाला है। यह सोनेको गलाकर बनाया हुआ, दिव्य, सुन्दर, विस्तृत तथा व्रणरहित (नित्य नूतन) है। यह भारीसे भारी भार वहन करनेमें समर्थ, भयंकर और देखनेमें मनोहर है। ऐसे ही युधिष्ठिर, भीम, अर्जुन तथा नकुल-सहदेवके भी सब धनुष प्रबल और सुदृढ़ हैं

sarvāyudha-mahāmātra śatru-sambādha-kārakam | suvarṇa-vikṛtaṃ divyaṃ ślakṣṇam amāyatam avraṇam ||

Disse Vaiśampāyana: “Este é o maior entre os conjuntos completos de armas, forjado para oprimir os inimigos e causar-lhes especial aflição. Feito ao trabalhar ouro em fusão, é divino — liso, amplo e sem mácula, sempre parecendo novo. Suporta até a mais pesada tensão; é formidável em seu efeito e, ainda assim, agradável de contemplar. Do mesmo modo, os arcos de Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhīma, Arjuna e de Nakula–Sahadeva também são poderosos e firmemente construídos.”
