प्रतियोद्धुं न शक्ष्यामि कुरुसैन्यमनन्तकम् | नाशंसे भारती सेनां प्रवेष्ठं भीमकार्मुकाम्,कौरवोंकी सेनाका कहीं अन्त नहीं है। मैं इसका सामना नहीं कर सकता। भयानक धनुषवाली भरतवंशियोंकी इस विशाल वाहिनीमें प्रवेश करना तो दूर रहे, मैं उसके सम्बन्धमें बात भी नहीं कर सकता
pratiyoddhuṃ na śakṣyāmi kuru-sainyam anantakam | nāśaṃse bhāratīṃ senāṃ praveṣṭuṃ bhīma-kārmukām ||
Uttara disse: “Não sou capaz de lutar contra o exército Kuru, que parece não ter fim. Nem sequer ouso falar em penetrar naquela hoste dos Bhāratas, armada de arcos terríveis.”
उत्तर उवाच
The verse highlights the human experience of fear before overwhelming power and the collapse of confidence; it sets up the ethical tension between a kshatriya’s expected valor and an individual’s psychological limits, preparing the ground for guidance and the restoration of courage.
Prince Uttara, facing the prospect of confronting the vast Kuru (Kaurava) forces, admits his inability to fight and even to enter their fearsome, bow-armed host, expressing panic and reluctance at the impending battle.
