Adharma’s Short-Lived Prosperity and the Restorative Path of Tīrtha
The verse frames protection as a central duty of leadership and dharma: a righteous king must ensure the safety of those under his care, especially during pilgrimage and in dangerous places, taking inspiration from revered exemplars who safeguarded cosmic order.
Lomaśa reports counsel given to Yudhiṣṭhira: while moving through sacred sites, he must actively protect the Kuntī-born brothers from rākṣasas in treacherous terrain and critical moments, likening his role to Dadhīca’s and Aṅgirā’s protective acts.
