Pulastya’s Instruction
तत्र स्नात्वा दिवं यान्ति येडपि पापकृतो नरा: | पृथूदके नरश्रेष्ठ एवमाहुर्मनीषिण:,नरश्रेष्ठ) पापी मनुष्य भी वहाँ पृथूदकतीर्थमें स्नान करनेसे स्वर्गलोकमें चले जाते हैं, ऐसा मनीषी पुरुष कहते हैं
tatra snātvā divaṃ yānti ye ’pi pāpakṛto narāḥ | pṛthūdake naraśreṣṭha evam āhur manīṣiṇaḥ ||
Tendo-se banhado ali, até mesmo homens que cometeram pecados ascendem ao céu. Ó melhor dos homens, os sábios declaram que tal é o poder do vau sagrado de Pṛthūdaka.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse emphasizes the purificatory and merit-bestowing power attributed to certain tīrthas: sincere bathing at Pṛthūdaka is said to cleanse even grave wrongdoing and lead to heavenly attainment, underscoring faith, repentance, and the transformative role of sacred practice within dharma.
A speaker praises the greatness of the Pṛthūdaka sacred ford, telling the addressed ‘best of men’ that the wise tradition holds this place to be so potent that even sinners who bathe there can attain heaven.
