Pilgrimage is presented as an ethical-spiritual discipline: when undertaken with purity and self-mastery (jitātmā), sacred bathing and worship generate merit that elevates the practitioner and is believed to benefit the family line up to seven generations, emphasizing responsibility to both self and ancestors.
Ghūlastya is instructing the king on a sequence of tīrtha-yātrā destinations. He praises Brahmayoni for its power to grant Brahmaloka and to purify the lineage, then directs the king onward to the famed Pṛthūdaka tīrtha associated with Kārttikeya, where one should bathe and engage in worship of gods and ancestors.
