Chapter 82
ततो योगेश्वरेणापि योगमास्थाय भूपते । तेषां मन्युप्रणाशार्थमृषीणां भावितात्मनाम्,राजन! तब योगेश्वर भगवान् शिवने भी योगका आश्रय ले, उन शुद्धात्मा महर्षियोंके शोककी शान्तिके लिये करोड़ों शिवलिंगोंकी सृष्टि कर दी, जो उन सभी ऋषियोंके आगे उपस्थित थे; इससे उन सबने अलग-अलग भगवान्का दर्शन किया। राजन! उन शुद्धचेता मुनियोंकी उत्तम भक्तिसे संतुष्ट हो महादेवजीने उन्हें वर दिया
tato yogeśvareṇāpi yogam āsthāya bhūpate | teṣāṁ manyupraṇāśārtham ṛṣīṇāṁ bhāvitātmanām ||
Então, ó rei, até mesmo o Senhor do Yoga entrou em concentração ióguica. Para dissipar a ira e a tristeza daqueles sábios de alma disciplinada, manifestou incontáveis liṅgas de Śiva, surgindo diante de todos, para que cada rishi obtivesse uma visão distinta do Senhor. Satisfeito com a excelente devoção daqueles ascetas de mente pura, Mahādeva concedeu-lhes uma dádiva.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The passage highlights that disciplined devotion (bhakti) and inner purity (bhāvitātman) draw divine grace, and that yogic mastery can be used ethically to pacify collective agitation—transforming anger and grief into calm through a form that allows each devotee a personal, direct experience (darśana).
Śiva, addressed as the Lord of Yoga, enters yogic concentration and manifests countless Śiva-liṅgas before the assembled sages so each can behold him individually. Their devotion pleases him, and he responds by granting them a boon, thereby resolving their emotional turmoil.
