Nala’s Victory over Puṣkara in the Dice-Game
उवाच वाक्य तत्त्वज्ञो नैषधं वदतां वर: । बुद्धिमान् नलने भी अनेक युक्तियोंद्वारा उनसे क्षमा-याचना की। नलसे आदर-सत्कार पाकर वक्ताओंमें श्रेष्ठ एवं तत्त्वज्ञ राजा ऋतुपर्ण मुसकराते हुए मुखसे बोले-- ।। १० $ ।। दिष्ट्या समेतो दारै: स्वैर्भवानित्यभ्यनन्दत,“निषधनरेश! यह बड़े सौभाग्यकी बात है कि आप अपनी बिछुड़ी हुई पत्नीसे मिले।' ऐसा कहकर उन्होंने नलका अभिनन्दन किया
ṛtuparṇa uvāca | diṣṭyā sameto dāraiḥ svair bhavān iti abhyānandat | naiṣadhanareśa! etad mahāsaubhāgyam yat tvam vipralabdhāṃ bhāryāṃ punar āgataḥ sameto 'si | iti uktvā sa nalam abhinandya smayamānaḥ prāha |
R̥tuparṇa disse: “A fortuna te favoreceu—estás reunido com tua própria esposa.” Assim felicitou Nala, rei de Niṣadha, alegrando-se por ele ter recuperado o que se perdera. Sorrindo e honrando-o com palavras corteses, R̥tuparṇa falou com boa vontade, tomando a reunião como sinal de auspício e de restauração da ordem do lar.
बृहृदश्च उवाच
The verse highlights auspiciousness in the restoration of the household (dāra) and the ethical value of courteous recognition: a king honors another king’s regained marital unity as a sign of good fortune and social order.
After Nala receives respect and hospitality, King R̥tuparṇa smiles and congratulates him, saying it is fortunate that Nala has been reunited with his wife, thereby publicly affirming the reunion.
