दमयन्त्याः कार्यनिश्चयः — Damayantī’s Crisis Plan and Vārṣṇeya’s Departure
नैषधाय ददौ शक्र: प्रीयमाण: शचीपति: । शचीपति इन्द्रने प्रसन्न होकर निषधराज नलको यह वर दिया कि “मैं यज्ञमें तुम्हें प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन दूँगा और अन्तमें सर्वोत्तम शुभ गति प्रदान करूँगा”
naiṣadhāya dadau śakraḥ prīyamāṇaḥ śacīpatiḥ |
Disse Bṛhadaśva: Satisfeito de coração, Śakra—Indra, senhor de Śacī—concedeu este dom a Naiṣadha (o rei Nala): “No teu sacrifício eu me manifestarei a ti diretamente e, ao fim, te concederei o mais alto destino auspicioso.”
बृहदश्व उवाच
Right conduct and sincere religious effort invite divine grace; the highest aim of ritual is not spectacle but transformation and an ultimately auspicious end (śubhā gati).
Bṛhadaśva narrates that Indra, pleased with Naiṣadha (Nala), grants him a boon: Indra will appear directly at Nala’s sacrifice and later confer the सर्वोत्तम शुभ गति—an excellent, auspicious final destiny.
