ततो हर्म्यतलस्था सा महाहशयनोचिता । प्राच्यां दिशि समुद्यन्तं ददर्शादित्यमण्डलम्,तदनन्तर एक दिन कुन्ती अपने महलके भीतर एक बहुमूल्य पलंगपर लेटी हुई थी। उसी समय उसने (खिड़कीसे) पूर्वदिशामें उदित होते हुए सूर्यमण्डलकी ओर दृष्टिपात किया
tato harmyatalasthā sā mahāśayanocitā | prācyāṃ diśi samudyantaṃ dadarśādityamaṇḍalam ||
Então Kuntī—repousando no terraço do palácio, acostumada a um leito esplêndido—voltou-se para o oriente e contemplou o disco do Sol a erguer-se. A quietude da aurora emoldura o seu estado interior: no silêncio do amanhecer, sua atenção se dirige ao Sol, testemunha da verdade e do dharma, prenunciando reflexão sobre conduta e consequência.
