Intentions and invocations have consequences: a deliberate wish directed toward a divine power can shape destiny, granting extraordinary gifts (valor, kavaca, kuṇḍala) while also setting in motion complex ethical and social outcomes.
Sūrya addresses the woman (Kuntī) and recalls her earlier resolve to obtain a son from him—one incomparable in prowess and marked by innate divine insignia (armor and earrings), foreshadowing Karṇa’s extraordinary birth and identity.
