Defects of Anger and the Praise of Forbearance
Rule and personal survival are not ends in themselves for a king; they are instruments for upholding dharma. Yudhiṣṭhira frames sovereignty and life as responsibilities accountable to moral, social, and divine authorities (brāhmaṇas, gurus, and the gods).
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a ruler (or one being urged toward rightful conduct), reminding him that his legitimacy and even his life are grounded in service to dharma, a fact recognized by respected human authorities and by the divine order.
