Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
त॑ लक्ष्मणो5 भ्यधावच्च प्रगृह्म सशरं धनु: । त्रासयंस्तलघोषेण सिंह: क्षुद्रमूगान् यथा,तब लक्ष्मण भी धनुषपर बाण चढ़ाये हुए उसकी ओर बड़े वेगसे दौड़े और सिंह जैसे छोटे मृगोंको डरा देता है, उसी प्रकार वे अपने धनुषकी टंकारसे सब राक्षसोंको त्रास देने लगे
taṁ lakṣmaṇo 'bhyadhāvac ca pragṛhya saśaraṁ dhanuḥ | trāsayaṁs talaghoṣeṇa siṁhaḥ kṣudramṛgān yathā ||
Então Lakṣmaṇa avançou diretamente contra ele, empunhando o arco já armado com flechas. Com o estalo agudo da corda, lançou terror entre os rākṣasas—como um leão amedronta as feras menores e tímidas.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Righteous courage expresses itself as disciplined readiness to protect: Lakṣmaṇa’s firm advance and the bow’s twang symbolize moral resolve that deters wrongdoing and shields the vulnerable.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Lakṣmaṇa charging forward with bow and arrows; the sound of his bowstring terrifies the rākṣasas, likened to a lion frightening smaller animals.
