Dyumatsena’s Restoration and Sāvitrī’s Disclosure of Yama’s Boons
gandharvāpsaraso bhadre mām āpānagataṃ sadā | upatiṣṭhanti vāmoru yathaiva bhrātaraṃ mama ||
Mārkaṇḍeya disse: “Ó nobre dama, ó tu de belas coxas—sempre que me sento na assembleia do beber, os Gandharvas, junto com as Apsarases, assistem-me constantemente, tal como assistiriam ao meu próprio irmão.”
The verse underscores the idea that spiritual stature and divine favor can manifest as effortless honor and service from higher beings; it also reflects the epic’s theme that true eminence is recognized beyond human society.
Mārkaṇḍeya addresses a woman respectfully and describes a recurring marvel: whenever he is present at a drinking assembly, Gandharvas and Apsarases attend him, treating him with the same deference they show to his brother.
