Sāvitrī’s Trirātra-Vrata and Departure with Satyavān (सावित्रीव्रतनिश्चयः सहगमनं च)
पुनर्जघान पाश्चे वै तद् रक्षो लक्ष्मणो भृशम् | गतासुरपतद् भूमौ कबन्ध: सुमहांस्तत:,तदनन्तर बलवान सुमित्रानन्दन लक्ष्मणने भी अपने खड्गसे उसकी दाहिनी बाँह काट डाली और अपने भाई श्रीरामको खड़ा देखकर उन्होंने उसकी पसलीपर भी बड़े जोरसे प्रहार किया। फिर तो वह महान् राक्षस कबन्ध प्राणशून्य होकर पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़ा
punar jaghāna pāśce vai tad rakṣo lakṣmaṇo bhṛśam | gatāsur apatat bhūmau kabandhaḥ sumahāṁs tataḥ |
Disse Mārkaṇḍeya: Então Lakṣmaṇa golpeou novamente aquele rākṣasa por trás com grande força. Privado do sopro vital, o enorme Kabandha tombou sobre a terra. O episódio ressalta a coragem resoluta diante da violência e a necessidade ética, segundo o dharma, de proteger o irmão e a si mesmo contra um agressor predatório.
