Insulting others is self-destructive: it leads to material loss, social reproach and dishonor, inner suffering, and the creation of new enmities. Respectful conduct is presented as a practical foundation for dharma and well-being.
Prahlāda is delivering moral instruction, warning about the tangible and psychological consequences that follow from contemptuous behavior toward others.
