Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis
The verse underscores how adharma can operate through the manipulation of royal rites: rightful authority is displaced, and the virtuous are pushed toward exile. It invites reflection on legitimacy, duty, and the moral cost of political coercion.
Mārkaṇḍeya recounts a proposal/command that the coronation preparations meant for Rāma should instead go to Bharata, while Rāma (Rāghava) is sent to live in the forest—an allusion to the events leading to Rāma’s exile.
