When a grave injustice occurs—especially against one who is under one’s protection—dharma requires prompt, organized action. The verse emphasizes urgency, preparedness, and collective responsibility: do not hesitate; equip yourselves and act decisively to safeguard the wronged.
The speaker urges the Pāṇḍava heroes to turn their chariots back and immediately pursue, asserting that the princess (Draupadī) cannot have gone far. He commands them to arm themselves with strong, splendid protective gear, signaling an imminent confrontation in the effort to recover and protect her.
