Daśagrīva-boonāvaraṇa, Viṣṇv-avatāra-niyoga, Vānara-sahāya-janana, Mantharā-nirmāṇa
न सुष्वाप सुखं राजा हृदि शल्यैरिवार्पिति: । दौरात्म्यमनुपश्यंस्तत् काले द्यूतोद््भवस्य हि,इसी चिन्तामें पड़े-पड़े राजा युधिष्ठिर रातमें सुखकी नींद नहीं सो पाते थे। ये बातें उनके हृदयमें चुभे हुए काँटोंके समान दुःख दिया करती थीं। जूआ खेलनेके कारणभूत शकुनि आदिकी दुष्टतापर दृष्टिपात करके तथा सूतपुत्र कर्णकी कठोर बातोंको स्मरण करके पाण्डुनन्दन युधिष्ठिर दीनभावसे लंबी साँसें लेते रहते और महान् क्रोधरूपी विषको अपने हृदयमें धारण करते थे
vaiśampāyana uvāca | na suṣvāpa sukhaṃ rājā hṛdi śalyair ivārpitaḥ | daurātmyam anupaśyaṃs tat kāle dyūtotthavasya hi |
Vaiśampāyana disse: O rei não conseguia dormir em paz, como se o coração lhe tivesse sido trespassado por farpas. Pois, ao refletir então sobre a maldade nascida do jogo—seu intento cruel e corrompido—sua mente permanecia atormentada e inquieta.
