रावणोत्पत्तिः—तपसा वरलाभश्च
Rāvaṇa’s Origins and the Acquisition of Boons
तत्रेमां वसतिं शिष्टां विहरन्तो रमेमहि । “अतः अब हम पुनः असंख्य मृगोंसे युक्त, रमणीय तथा उत्तम काम्यकवनमें तृणबिन्दु नामक सरोवरके पास चलें। काम्यकवन मरुभूमिके शीर्षक स्थानमें पड़ता है। वहीं विहार करते हुए हम वनवासके शेष दिन सुखपूर्वक बितायेंगे”
tatre māṃ vasatiṃ śiṣṭāṃ viharanto ramemahi |
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Alegremo-nos aqui, habitando esta morada bem ordenada e adequada, e passando o tempo em recreio sereno. Daqui, vamos novamente à bela floresta de Kāmyaka, rica em incontáveis cervos, perto do lago chamado Tṛṇabindu. Kāmyaka fica na orla da região desértica; vivendo e vagando ali, passaremos com conforto os dias restantes do nosso exílio na floresta.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even in hardship, one should choose a disciplined, wholesome way of living—seeking a proper refuge, maintaining composure, and completing one’s duty (here, the vowed forest-exile) without bitterness.
The speaker describes a plan to reside and roam in a suitable forest dwelling and then to move toward the Kāmyaka forest near the Tṛṇabindu lake, where the exiles can spend the remaining period of their forest life in relative peace.
