Vyāsa’s Consolation to Yudhiṣṭhira: Tapas, Kāla, and the Difficulty of Dāna (दान-तपस्-विवेकः)
व्यूढानीका व्यतिष्ठन्त गन्धमादनवासिन: । उन्होंने देखा, चारों वीर पाण्डव युद्धके लिए उद्यत हो रथपर बैठे हुए आ रहे हैं और अपनी कान्तिसे लोकपालोंके समान उद्धासित हो रहे हैं। यह देखकर गन्धमादननिवासी गन्धर्व अपनी सेनाकी व्यूहरचना करके खड़े हो गये
vyūḍhānīkā vyatiṣṭhanta gandhamādanavāsinaḥ |
Vaiśampāyana disse: Os Gandharvas que habitavam em Gandhamādana dispuseram suas forças em formação de batalha e permaneceram firmes. Ao verem os quatro heroicos Pāṇḍavas aproximando-se em seus carros, prontos para o combate e brilhando como os guardiões dos mundos, responderam com preparação disciplinada—imagem de como a ordem marcial se reúne quando uma força radiante e formidável avança.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined preparedness: when confronted by a powerful opponent, a community responds not with panic but with ordered formation and steadiness—suggesting that strength is ethically guided by restraint, organization, and readiness rather than impulsive aggression.
On Gandhamādana, the resident Gandharvas see the four Pāṇḍava heroes approaching in chariots, radiant and battle-ready. In response, the Gandharvas arrange their troops into a formal battle formation and take their positions.
