Dvaitavana
महाकुलीनाभिरपापिकाभि: स्त्रीभि: सतीभिस्तव सख्यमस्तु । चण्डाश्व शौण्डाश्व महाशनाश्न चौराश्न दुष्टाश्नपलाश्च वर्ज्या:,अत्यन्त ऊँचे कुलमें उत्पन्न और पापाचारसे दूर रहनेवाली सती स्त्रियोंके साथ ही तुम्हें सखीभाव स्थापित करना चाहिये। जो अत्यन्त क्रोधी, नशेमें चूर रहनेवाली, अधिक खानेवाली, चोरीकी लत रखनेवाली, दुष्ट और चञ्चल स्वभावकी स्त्रियाँ हों, उन्हें दूरसे ही त्याग देना चाहिये

mahākulīnābhir apāpikābhiḥ strībhiḥ satībhiḥ tava sakhyam astu |
caṇḍāśva śauṇḍāśva mahāśanāś caurāś ca duṣṭāś ca capalāś ca varjyāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Que tua amizade seja com mulheres de alta linhagem, afastadas de conduta pecaminosa e verdadeiramente virtuosas. Mas mulheres de ânimo excessivamente violento, propensas à embriaguez, gulosas, viciadas em roubo, perversas e inconstantes devem ser evitadas por completo.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Choose companionship that supports dharma: associate with virtuous, self-controlled people, and avoid those dominated by anger, intoxication, greed, theft, malice, and fickleness, since such traits corrupt judgment and bring harm.
Vaiśampāyana delivers a didactic instruction within the Vana Parva, giving moral guidance about whom one should befriend—praising association with virtuous women and warning against keeping company with those of destructive habits.
