सरमा नाम या माता शुनां देवी जनाधिप । सापि गर्भान् समादत्ते मानुषीणां सदैव हि,नरेश्वर! कुत्तोंकी माता जो देवजातीय सरमा है, वह भी सदैव मानवीय स्त्रियोंके गर्भस्थ बालकोंका अपहरण करती रहती है
saramā nāma yā mātā śunāṃ devī janādhipa | sāpi garbhān samādatte mānuṣīṇāṃ sadaiva hi nareśvara ||
Mārkaṇḍeya disse: “Ó senhor dos homens, Saramā—a mãe divina dos cães—também, de fato, continuamente arrebata os filhos ainda não nascidos dos ventres das mulheres humanas.” A afirmação traz um aviso moral: até seres de origem divina podem agir de modo nocivo, e os governantes devem manter-se vigilantes contra fontes ocultas e recorrentes de sofrimento que violam a proteção devida aos vulneráveis.
