बिभेद स शरै: शैलं क्रौज्चं हिमवत: सुतम् । तेन हंसाश्न गृध्राश्ष॒ मेरुं गच्छन्ति पर्वतम्,उन बाणोंद्वारा उन्होंने हिमालयके पुत्र क्रौज्च पर्वतको विदीर्ण कर दिया। उसी छिठ्रमें होकर हंस और गृध्र पक्षी मेरु पर्वतको जाते हैं
bibheda sa śaraiḥ śailaṁ krauñcaṁ himavataḥ sutam | tena haṁsāś ca gṛdhrāś ca meruṁ gacchanti parvatam ||
Mārkaṇḍeya disse: Com suas flechas ele fendeu a montanha Krauñca, filho de Himavat. Por essa fenda, cisnes e abutres passam a caminho do monte Meru.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes a feat in which a hero splits the Krauñca mountain with arrows; the resulting cleft becomes a route by which swans and vultures travel toward Mount Meru.
