Skanda-janma: Śivā/Svāhā, Agni, and the Manifestation of Guha

Mahābhārata 3.214

अस्यापि पायुपर्यन्तस्तथा स्याद्‌ गुदसंज्ञित: । स्रोतांसि तस्माज्जायन्ते सर्वप्राणेषु देहिनाम्‌,इस जठरानलका स्थान नाभिसे लेकर पायुतक है। इसीको “गुदा” कहते हैं। उस गुदासे देहधारियोंके समस्त प्राणोंमें स्रोत (नाडीमार्ग) प्रकट होते हैं

asyāpi pāyuparyantas tathā syād gudasaṃjñitaḥ | srotāṃsi tasmāj jāyante sarvaprāṇeṣu dehinām ||

Disse o sábio caçador: “Neste corpo também, a região que se estende do umbigo até o ânus é conhecida como ‘guda’ (região reto-anal). Desse guda nascem os canais (srotas), os caminhos sutis, que se manifestam em todas as funções vitais dos seres encarnados.” No contexto, a descrição anatômica fundamenta uma lição ética: compreender o corpo como uma construção funcional favorece o desapego, a humildade e a disciplina, em vez do orgulho ou da indulgência.
