पञ्चमहाभूतगुण-इन्द्रियनिग्रह-उपदेशः | Teaching on the Qualities of the Five Elements and Sense-Control
स योगबलमास्थाय मामकं पार्थिवोत्तम: । शासनात् तव विद्रर्षे धुन्धुमारो भविष्यति । एवमुक्त्वा तु त॑ विप्रं विष्णुरन्तरधीयत,ब्रह्मर्षे! तुम्हारे आदेशसे वे नृपश्रेष्ठ कुवलाश्व ही मेरे योगबलका आश्रय लेकर धुन्धु राक्षसका वध करेंगे और लोकमें धुन्धुमार नामसे विख्यात होंगे। उत्तड़कसे ऐसा कहकर भगवान् विष्णु अन्तर्धान हो गये
sa yogabalam āsthāya māmakam pārthivottamaḥ | śāsanāt tava viprarṣe dhundhumāro bhaviṣyati || evam uktvā tu taṁ vipraṁ viṣṇur antaradhīyata | brahmarṣe ||
“Esse rei, o mais eminente, amparando-se em meu poder ióguico, por tua ordem, ó vidente brâmane, matará o demônio Dhundhu e será célebre no mundo pelo nome de ‘Dhundhumāra’.” Tendo dito isso ao sábio, o Senhor Viṣṇu desapareceu de vista.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Righteous action gains decisive power when aligned with dharma, sanctioned by a seer’s authoritative command, and supported by divine śakti; such action protects the world and yields enduring renown that reflects the deed.
Mārkaṇḍeya reports Viṣṇu’s assurance to a sage: the foremost king (Kuvalāśva, in context) will rely on Viṣṇu’s yogic power, kill the demon Dhundhu by the sage’s instruction, and become famous as ‘Dhundhumāra’; after speaking, Viṣṇu vanishes.
