Dhaundhumāra-Upākhyāna: The Slaying of Dhundhu and the Epithet ‘Dhundhumāra’
इति श्रीमहाभारते वनपर्वणि मार्कण्डेयसमास्यापर्वणि शिबिचरिते चतुर्नवत्यधिकशततमो<ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate vanaparvaṇi mārkaṇḍeyasamāsyāparvaṇi śibicarite caturnavatyadhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ
Assim termina o capítulo centésimo nonagésimo quarto do Śrī Mahābhārata, no Vana Parva, na subseção chamada Markandeya Samasya Parva, no relato do rei Śibi.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a chapter-ending colophon, the line itself teaches by framing the Śibi episode as a dharma-model: righteous kingship is measured by protection of the vulnerable and willingness to bear personal cost for ethical duty.
This is not a narrative action-verse but a concluding marker: it announces that the chapter has ended and locates it within Vana Parva, the Markandeya-related section, specifically in the Śibi-carita (the account of King Śibi).
