Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration
अपने कुलका आचार्य भी यदि निर्धन हो तो उसे निरन्तर शिष्योंकी डाँट-फटकार सुननी पड़ेगी। मित्र, सम्बन्धी या भाई-बन्धु धनके लालचसे ही अपने पास रहेंगे ।। अभाव: सर्वभूतानां युगान्ते सम्भविष्यति । दिश: प्रज्वलिता: सर्वा नक्षत्राण्यप्रभाणि च,युगान्तकाल आनेपर समस्त प्राणियोंका अभाव हो जायगा। सारी दिशाएँ प्रज्वलित हो उठेंगी और नक्षत्रोंकी प्रभा विलुप्त हो जायगी
abhāvaḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ yugānte sambhaviṣyati | diśaḥ prajvalitāḥ sarvā nakṣatrāṇy aprabhāṇi ca ||
Disse Mārkaṇḍeya: “No fim da era, a carência e a privação recairão sobre todos os seres vivos. Todas as direções arderão como se em fogo, e as estrelas perderão o seu fulgor.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse underscores impermanence: even the cosmic order shows signs of collapse at yugānta. Ethically, it urges sobriety and detachment—do not base one’s conduct or relationships solely on prosperity, since scarcity and upheaval can overtake all beings.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing yugānta-lakṣaṇas (portents of the end of an age): universal deprivation, the quarters appearing to burn, and the dimming of the stars—imagery that frames a broader discourse on decline and the fragility of worldly supports.
