वैरबद्धा भविष्यन्ति परस्परवधैषिण: । विद्याके बिना ज्ञान न होनेसे उन सबको लोभ दबा लेगा। फिर लोभ और क्रोधके वशीभूत हुए मूढ़ मनुष्य कामनाओंमें फँसकर आपसमें वैर बाँध लेंगे और एक-दूसरेके प्राण लेनेकी घातमें लगे रहेंगे
vairabaddhā bhaviṣyanti parasparavadhaiṣiṇaḥ |
Mārkaṇḍeya disse: “Ficarão presos em inimizade mútua, cada qual buscando a destruição do outro.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
When knowledge and self-restraint weaken, greed and anger take control; desire then breeds rivalry, and rivalry hardens into enmity that culminates in mutual violence. The verse warns that inner moral collapse becomes outer social destruction.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing a future condition of people: they become locked in feuds and turn into would-be slayers of one another, illustrating the consequences of being driven by uncontrolled passions rather than dharma and discernment.
