Nārāyaṇopadeśa to Mārkaṇḍeya (Cosmic Self-Identification and Yuga Doctrine) | नारायणोपदेशः
ताक्ष्य उवाच न हि त्वया सदृशी काचिदस्ति विभ्राजसे ह्ृतिमात्र यथा श्री: | रूपं च ते दिव्यमनन्तकान्ति प्रज्ञां च देवीं सुभगे बिभर्षि,ताक्ष्यने पूछा--सुभगे! तुम्हारी-जैसी दूसरी कोई नारी नहीं है। तुम साक्षात् लक्ष्मीजीकी भाँति अत्यन्त प्रकाशमान दिखायी देती हो। तुम्हारा यह परम कान्तिमान् स्वरूप अत्यन्त दिव्य है। साथ ही तुम दिव्य प्रज्ञा भी धारण करती हो (इसका क्या कारण है?)
tākṣya uvāca | na hi tvayā sadṛśī kācid asti vibhrājase hṛtimātra yathā śrīḥ | rūpaṃ ca te divyam anantakānti prajñāṃ ca devīṃ subhage bibharṣi |
Tākṣya disse: “Em verdade, não há outra mulher comparável a ti. Tu resplandeces como a própria Śrī (Lakṣmī), cativando o coração num só olhar. Tua forma é divina, de brilho sem fim; e, ó afortunada, também trazes uma sabedoria digna dos deuses. Qual é a causa disso—como vieste a possuir tal esplendor e tal discernimento?”
ताक्ष्य उवाच
The verse links outer radiance (śrī, kānti) with inner excellence (prajñā). It suggests that true auspiciousness is not merely beauty or fortune but is accompanied by discernment and divine-minded intelligence, inviting reflection on the causes—merit, conduct, or divine favor—that produce such qualities.
Tākṣya addresses a woman of extraordinary brilliance and wisdom, praising her as Lakṣmī-like in splendor and asking what accounts for her divine beauty and godlike intelligence—setting up an explanation of her background, virtues, or the boon/merit behind her condition.
