Chapter 182
युधिछिर उवाच अहो बुद्धिमतां श्रेष्ठ शुभा बुद्धिरियं तव । विदितं वेदितव्यं ते कस्मात् समनुपृच्छसि,युधिष्ठिर बोले--बुद्धिमानोंमें श्रेष्ठ! तुम्हारी यह बुद्धि बड़ी उत्तम है। तुम तो जानने योग्य वस्तुको जान चुके हो, फिर मुझसे क्यों पूछते हो?
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: aho buddhimatāṃ śreṣṭha śubhā buddhir iyaṃ tava | viditaṃ veditavyaṃ te kasmāt samanupṛcchasi ||
Yudhiṣṭhira disse: “Ah, o melhor entre os sábios — teu entendimento é verdadeiramente auspicioso e excelente. Já compreendeste o que deve ser conhecido; por que, então, ainda me interrogas?”
युधिछिर उवाच
True wisdom includes recognizing when knowledge is already present: Yudhiṣṭhira praises the interlocutor’s discernment and implies that further questioning may be unnecessary when the essential truth has been understood.
In a dialogic setting in the Vana Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira responds to a questioner by commending their intelligence and asking why they seek answers from him despite already knowing what is worth knowing.
