गतासवस्तथैवान्ये प्रगृहीतशरासना: । हतसारथयस्तत्र व्यकृष्यन्त तुरंगमै:,इसी प्रकार वहाँ दूसरे बहुत-से असुर हाथमें धनुष-बाण लिये प्राणरहित हो गये थे और उनके सारथि भी मारे गये थे, उस दशामें सारथिशून्य घोड़े उनके निर्जीव शरीरको खींचे लिये जाते थे
gatāsavas tathaivānye pragṛhītaśarāsanāḥ | hatasārathayas tatra vyakṛṣyanta turaṅgamaiḥ ||
Do mesmo modo, muitos outros jaziam ali sem vida, ainda agarrados a arcos e flechas. Seus aurigas haviam sido mortos, e, nessa condição, os cavalos sem condutor arrastavam seus corpos inertes.
अजुन उवाच
The verse underscores the stark impermanence of life and the grim consequences of warfare: even valor and weaponry become meaningless once life departs. It implicitly cautions that martial action, though sometimes tied to kṣatriya duty, carries unavoidable suffering and should be weighed within dharma.
Arjuna describes a battlefield scene where many warriors have fallen dead with bows still in hand; their charioteers are killed, and the now-uncontrolled horses drag the lifeless bodies, emphasizing chaos and tragedy after the fighting.
